I'm in the same boat you are. If you make it to Meridian, MS I can give you a little action at both of your games of choice. Not a whole lot but would
definitely be more than enough for expenses. If I ever make it to Murfreesboro (where ever the hell that is) I'll look you up. There's a few people
around that can vouch that I'm easy action.

Delta Boy,
Dewayne Hailey is married w/ kids and was in a pretty bad car accident a few months ago. He's alright now but he don't play much. Ricky Simpson is the same. He's the best around here and is good for 1-2 sets (3 absolute max) for $200-300 each. Keith Rutledge had a stroke about a year ago that really set him back. He's hitting 'em a bit now but nowhere near his former self. What's your name? I'm sure I've at least heard of you. From the way you talk, I know I don't play anywhere near your speed but oh well. There's always better players out there. There's not much action here (and really never has been as far as I can tell). But definitely let me know if you make down this way. Ryan |

Pelican wrote:I've often wondered how that name was spelled. I always visualized it spelled "brim-cat". Anyway, he hasn't been around in a couple of years. BTW, I came over for the weekend at the in-laws, so I played several hours at The Billiard Club on Sunday. Everyone seems to be hanging out there now. One nice feature: no "rap" on the jukebox. If the music
has to be loud, at least it's not that gansta crap. It's a real nice place. I suspect Breakers will become passe.

Honestly Art, I'm just guessing at the name. I took Bream and Catfish and put them together.
I agree about the music. That is one thing I really love about Starkville, no jukebox. Later, Pel

Thank you, thank you, thank you Pelican. For years some folks, I don't recall exactly who, have tried to convince me to put in a juke-box. The reply
to my refusal is always something along the lines of, "But Dad, do you realize how much money a juke-box would take in!" I guess it is that
independent nature of poolroom owners that GulfportDoc has referred to, but I just don't want one. Sirus, XM, and FM provide all the music this place
needs. Plus; if they want music I can turn it on; if they don't want music I can turn it off; if it ain't loud enough, I can turn it up; if it is too
loud I can turn it down; if they don't like what is playing I change it. Even though I realize I could do the same with a juke-box, if some guy pays to
hear something it is amazing to me how upset that often get if you shut it off, even if you were to give them their money back. The policy given to the
Attendants that work here is: the preferred music is blues, oldies or rock & roll; and it is not to be loud enough that people have to speak louder than a
normal voice to talk to one another. My belief is that people come to a poolroom, to play pool obviously, but for the social aspects. That is one reason they
come is to talk to one another, not to listen to music. Don't get me wrong, some of that good old-time rock and roll with a back beat you can't lose
come on, and especially if I've had a couple of shots of the kick'en chicken, I might crank it up for a song or two. But as any one that has ever been
here knows, thats not the normal state of affairs, . . ., the music being cranks up that is.

Professor wrote:Several years ago, when you told me how you use the normal conversational voice as a gauge to set the music volume, I though it was a great standard. Since then I've used that many times to explain to others about the ideal music volume in a poolroom. Of course no one ever used the advice, but it's a perfect gauge nonetheless.

Do it somewhere I'm not there betting MY cash. If you don't speak english. Don't touch the damn jukebox period
